Review

The Dell D630 is a great refurbished laptop. It is basically an upgraded version of the D620. It was originally sold as a business class notebook for well over $1000!  It included state of the art features like wide-screen format and Core 2 Duo processor. It has some key advantages over the lower priced D610.The Dell D620 is jam packed with features including wireless, DVD player, and a CD burner. Preloaded with windows XP, this laptop responds fast and browses the internet without a hitch. With it’s upgraded Core 2 Duo processor, you can do even more! You will have no problems creating movies, using photoshop, or creating websites. There isn’t much this unit cannot do. The Core 2 Duo process takes the cake with it multi threaded, multi core processing ability. The low end new laptops of today are finally shipping with more power than this unit. The D620 comes from an era when laptops were built to last. You can expect quality out of this Dell laptop.

Quality

The D630 is a solid notebook — noticeably thicker and more durable than the Latitude D610. There is really not any flex when you pick the machine up by a corner, and the screen hinges are solid — the screen doesn’t wobble when you gently shake the notebook back and forth.

Design

If you prefer a simple notebook that isn’t very flashy then the D620 is for you. The finish is an attractive silver/grey matte with lighter colored accents around the keyboard and touch-pad.  There aren’t a bunch of cumbersome quick-launch buttons: just volume up/down and mute, and the power button. Alongside these buttons are indicator lights for num lock, scroll lock, and caps lock, and Wifi. Wifi is turned on/off via function keys (no physical switch). There are also indicator lights on the right-hand of the LCD screen for power, HDD activity, and battery status.

Conclusion

If you need a used laptop that can handle more rigorous computing requirements and data processing, then this is the model for you. If you are looking for a more upgraded model with more processing power, and more storage capacity, check out some of our new models.

We will probably not carry the D630 model. The price increase / performance increase doesn’t seem worth it.
